I have had under consideration a despatch from MacDonnell, No.971 of the 11th April last, enclosing a copy of a letter addressed to Vice Admiral Shadwell by Commodore Shortt, respecting the official precedence assigned to him.

I am informed by the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty that in the case of Commodore (Damarin) there was a precedent where there were no objections being made to the position assigned to the Commodore, who is a Commander.
